Seated / Chair Massage

Also known as 'On Site Massage' this treatment is particularly suited to the office environment where there is no removal of clothes or use of oils and treatment lengths can be scaled to meet the requirements of the event.

One popular form of chair based massage is the seated acupressure massage which combines eastern energy work with the demands of modern office environments to provide a relaxing, yet invigorating treatment.

What to Expect:

Therapists tend to be trained in a routine, usually based around the body's acupressure points of the back, neck, shoulders, arms & hands. Routines often include a brief massage of the head and sometimes give attention to the legs. We encourage therapists to apply some of their own styles learnt from other massage approaches so that each treatment is unique and the therapist is in full flow, combining the best approaches from their training.

Benefits:

The seated chair massage treatment targets those areas of the body which are particularly susceptible to the strains of office life. The massage can be used to treat aching muscles and repetitive strain injuries. Regular massage helps to identify problems before they become serious and provide insight into areas which would benefit from stretching or postural awareness. The seated chair massage is wonderfully calming and tends to finish with movements designed to awaken and invigorate the client leaving them alert for the remainder of the day.

Equipment Required:

Seated Massage is performed in a comfortable ergonomic massage chair, especially designed to maximise the clients relaxation. A few therapists use a portable face board which can be attached to a standard table which gives an equally relaxing massage.

Room Required:

A quiet area or room will give the most pleasing treatment however chair massage does not involve the removal of clothes so can be provided in more public areas. The massage chair itself takes up the space of a normal office chair, however there should be space of at least 6 foot behind the chair and 4 foot at the sides and the front to give the therapist room to manoeuvre.

Recommended Treatment Lengths:

A 15 minute treatment is the most popular chair massage treatment length, although we would recommend up to 25 minutes for maximum benefit. The treatment can scale down to 10 minutes for situations where a large volume of clients require a massage in one session. In each case an additional 5 minutes is recommended for client consultation, feedback, and preparation for the next massage.

Event Suitability:

The seated chair massage or acupressure massage is suitable for all kinds of events but is particularly popular for regular office massage wellbeing days, exhibitions and promotional events, conferences and meetings.
